Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup boiling water
Steps to Make the Cake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (200°C).
- Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil, and mix well.
- Slowly add the buttermilk and stir until smooth.
- Carefully pour in the boiling water and mix. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
